What do I do if I receive an error message: LOW SHU?
Try a lower dilution. Let the sample sit on the sensor for longer before measuring.

What do I do if the app cannot see my Foodsense box?
Make sure bluetooth is enabled. Make sure the power supply is high quality and can supply the rated current. Only use the cable provided with the device.

What do i do if the measurement failed and it says to "try to power cycle the device and try again"?
Unplug the device. Plug it back in. Make sure the power supply is high quality and can supply the rated current. Only use the cable provided with the device.

What do i do if the green led does not light up when i connect Foodsense to the power supply?

How to install Foodsense app?
On the Apple Appstore, search for FoodSense. The developer should be listed as Zimmer & Peacock. Install the app.

Is Foodsense app available on the App Store?
Yes, it is available. Just search for FoodSense app in the App Store, the developer is Zimmer & Peacock

Does Foodsense measure other analytes than chilli?
No, currently Foodsense only measures chilli, in the future more analytes will be added

What do the values that are displayed on the app mean?
For chilli measurements, the result is referring to SHU, Scoville heat units, which is related to the concentration of capsaicinoids (with capsaicin being the predominant component).

Can I download data from the app?
Yes. Under the History tab, select the historical measurement you want to export. Tap the arrow in the top right corner, and select which service you want to export to.

Can I use the Foodsense device on Android devices?
Unfortunately, Foodsense does not support the Android platform at the moment. We are working on it!

Can i see the history of the results?
In the application under the "Results" section in the bottom menu.

Can I export the results to my computer?
Under "Results", click on a historical measurement. In the top-right corner, there is an arrow that allows you to send the result through available channels, such as SMS, email apps, etc.

Why is it called "FoodSense" when it only measures Chilli?
Technically the instrument can measure other things than "hotness" as well, though chilli is the most popular.

Sensor

What is the shelf life and storage conditions for the sensors/buffer?
12 months at room temperature, out of ambient light.

Can I use the same sensor several times?
No. Using the same sensor multiple times will generate erroneous results.

Can I measure chilli powder? How?
Of course! You need to mix the chili powder with the Chilli Pot Buffer in a ratio of 1:100 and pipette this solution on the sensor. Press "learn more" and watch a video that describes how to measure chili powder!

Can I measure fresh chili? How?
Yes you can! You will need to grind chili with a food processor (the finer the better!) and mix it with chili buffer in a ratio of 1:100. Click "Learn More" and watch a video about it!

How to not damage the sensors?
Handle the sensor by the edges. Avoid touching the electrodes (silvery and black parts furthest away from the device)

Where do I throw away the sensors? Are they recyclable?
Regular recycled waste disposal.

Can I use the Foodsense device on Android devices?
Unfortunately, Foodsense does not support the Android platform at the moment. We are working on it!

What is the accuracy for chilli?
The accuracy is dictated by sample preparation, its handling, and its complexity. Once the process flow has been set up for the sample in question, the assay can be accurate down to below 20%.

How long is my warranty on the device and the other items in the kit?
The device has a fixed warranty period of 12 months from dispatch. This warranty does not apply to wetted parts or consumables, which are supplied with a one-month warranty (not used).

I tried to purchase, but it says nothing about the delivery time for foodSense, how long will it take?
Our standard delivery time is 3-4 weeks. you will get information about the estimated dispatch date after you place your order.
